It’s That Time Again — Happy May Day!

It has been a rather long year. Much has changed. My Zephirine Drough died and I haven’t ordered replacements yet. There is a reason I chose not to replace them yet. In two years we will be moving, God willing, to a new  place. Last year’s May Day post came only four days after we purchased a cabin in the woods very near the Champagnolle Creek in Calhoun County, Arkansas. Several years ago, my beloved and I really began to feel the desire to move. God heard us, but he had a different plan than what we were looking to do. We were unable to find a house we like,…

    Happy May Day!

I hope you all have a wonderful day today, on this ancient celebration of the return of spring. Celebrations of old used to include the gathering of wildflowers and green branches, garlands of floral weavings, the crowning of king and queens of May and the enchanted dances around the feminine Maypole, or decorated May tree. One year in elementary school, our teacher told us all about May Day and how flowers were hung secretly on door knobs in celebration of the old English tradition. We made little cones to fill with flowers to give to our mothers as a surprise. When my children were little, I had found a small…

    Happy Birthday…. to me..

Mondays can be, well, Mondays.  Today is my birthday, though, so I am positive this day is going to be great no matter what happens. And I pray nothing bad happens. I am 53 today.  The last three years I have been figuring out who I am and what I really whant to do.  I’ve relearned how to have joy and have learned to really appreciate what is in front of me; and this year’s birthday goal is to bloom where I am planted. By God’s own hand, I prayerfully ask for him to show me how. God is my rock, the one to whom I cry out to. Sometimes…

Finding Joy, Earning Victories Through Jesus

Most of the time nowadays, my heart is filled with joy because of Jesus, and I am learning to look at others through His eyes. But sometimes people just irritate me. I know without a doubt that without Jesus, I would go around knocking the who’d-of-thought-it out of bullies, loud, obnoxious people as well as manipulators and gossips not to mention the real troublemakers. A while back, something that I said had made a group of people upset with me. Smart remarks were made but no one would say anything directly to me. I confessed that I have to look at everyone through Jesus’ eyes, but that just elicited a…

    Water Adventures: Making Momma Proud

Watching my youngest child navigate the waters of Moro Bay made me so very proud and so very scared at the same time. This was only her second time in a kayak and seeing that she adapts quickly to new adventures was marvelous; but knowing that if she got into trouble on the water, it would be up to me, was causing anxiety in the momma area of my heart. Of four children, she is the caboose, so I’ve experienced this feeling before. It hasn’t gotten any easier. Each child had their own talent and interests, mostly determined by what we as parents were doing at the time. We’ve run…
